Wise County Joins Dallas in the Top 10
The 2013 ozone season kicked off March 1 (and ends on Halloween, talk about spooky) and weve added a 10th county, Wise County, to the nonattainment region. North Central Texas has been designated as nonattainment for eight-hour ozone by the EPA (which means we spew out far too many pollutants). If baby steps count, the region improved in 2012 with 36 days exceeding the eight-hour ozone standard of ≤75 parts per billion. Thats a four-day decrease from 2011. One way you can help: reduce idling in your vehicle. (The song will come on the radio again, you don't need to wait to hear it.) Get ready for the Air Pollution Watch days coming, too.
