RISING STARS BECOMES...RISING TIDE!

Man, we are floored by the quantity and quality of nominations pouring in for the "35 Under 35" honor in just the last 48 hours since we announced it. (April 16 is the deadline for submissions—check Monday’s issue in our archives at www.bisnow.com for details, and send your nominations to[email protected].)

When we gather at the offices of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, our presenting sponsor, on May 15 to fete the honorees, we realize now we will be standing in the presence of people who not only represent the future but also the best of the present as well. Here’s a small sampling of what we’ve received (quoted with permission) just since Monday afternoon:

Roy Ayers on Jennifer Tuten, 27, of Woodmark: "She absorbed data like a sponge and we quickly moved her into the research field to really learn the market...she has mastered that and has been off like a rocket now in the brokerage field."

Gigi Webb on Ryan Wade, 34, of MRP: "Ryan is brilliant, ambitious, energetic and a super likeable guy. His team is all over the hottest deals in the city and winning major projects..."

Bruce Pascal on Mark Klug, 25, of CBRE: "Never in my 19 year career have I met such a young individual who so quickly picks up the issues..."

Mark Levy of ProLogis on Kim Price, 27, of ProLogis: "She has learned the market with determination, pursuing every lead with tireless aggression..."

Helen Schubert of Dominion Title Corp. on James Brennan, 28, of Wachovia: "James has the amazing ability to bring people together. Every time he meets a new person, he immediately determines how he can help them with their business."

Win Stewart of Washington Property on Scott Jenkins, 31, of Carlyle:"No two days are alike for Scott. He may be meeting with operating partners going over the marketing campaign and construction schedule for a condo project, acquiring the next office deal in Boston, or working on the disposal of an asset."

Margie Nesbitt on Dan Rourke, 27, of Cafritz: "He recently was the mastermind behind all the complex calculations that significantly contributed to the [our] having the number one private commercial lease transaction in DC..."

Janet Davis of Brandywine on Lauren Rabbitt, 29, of Holland + Knight: "She works seven days a week…long hours into the night..."

We don’t know for sure who will make it yet, but it will be an amazing group.

And speaking more of this suddenly fashionable topic of young guns, theUrban Land Institute’s very own Young Leaders Group met last week at Pillsbury Winthrop to hear from three "smart growth" advocates. From left, above, Studio Architecture’s Amy Fitch Zimmerman, Shooshan Co’s Lauren Petitti, Pillsbury Winthrop’s Christian Buerger, andTishman’s Anthony Balestrieri (at age 27, the YLG president), with the three panelists: EPA’s Ilana Preuss, developer Jair Lynch, and Growth Management Institute’s Doug Porter.
